Opalis and Virtualisation
Process Catalogue for Virtualisation
Virtualisation provides great flexibility and resilience in the provisioning of server resources but, were it is used on a large scale, also introduces many new management operations and challenges.
The Opalis Integration Server together with the VMware Infrastructure 3 Integration Pack and the Virtualisation Process Catalogue provide and out-of -box solution which will automate most of these operations.
This has the following benefits:
-
Reduce the cost of Managing the Virtualisation Infrastructure by removing ALL repetitive manual management operations.
-
Increase the effectiveness of VM provisioning and server delivery, by structuring the management in a reliable and reproducible framework
-
Automatically action VM provisioning as a response to ANY other monitored or managed system activity. [e.g. A system failure Incident logged in the service desk could result in anthe automated provisioning of a VM system.
-
Automate incident, problem, change, configuration management
-
Maintain ongoing process of audits and remediation
By researching and identifying the key management problem areas, Opalis have been able to produce a “Virtualisation Process Catalogue” which provides pre-built management and automation policies, potentially saving thousands of hours or work.
This is provided as a component which is simply imported into the Opalis Integration Server and then configured for the users specific circumstances.
Each of the Policy Folders shown here contain extensive pre-configured workflows which perform the designated management actions, in many cases as a response to other system activities.
An example of a management policy can be seen .
