Opalis IP for EMC Smarts InCharge
Increase Application Performance and Availability
Opalis Integration Server connects data center components to automate processes in a way that is simple, fast and effective. The Opalis Integration Pack for EMC SMARTS InCharge extends capabilities by automating corrective actions and maintenance tasks to increase application performance and availability.
Automate Problem and Incident Management Routines Faster
Standardized, automated responses to common system problems reduce the latency inherent in human interaction, help ensure ITIL compliance and improve overall system availability and performance. The Opalis Integration Pack for SMARTS InCharge can watch for indications of system disruptions and then take multi-step corrective actions to ensure problems are fixed immediately.
Automate Maintenance Tasks and Report to EMC SMARTS
With Opalis, you can automate routine housekeeping tasks such as backup and application cleanup, as well as nightly transactions. Real-time success/failure notifications during execution of these procedures can be fed into EMC SMARTS as custom notifications.
Coordinate and Consolidate Events Between Monitoring and Service Desk Applications
The Opalis Integration Pack for EMC SMARTS provides a simple, yet powerful graphical interface for auto-generating pre-populated trouble tickets in service management tools like BMC Remedy. Organizations that run multiple system monitoring tools within different divisions or domains need to effectively consolidate event data into SMARTS InCharge, a manager of managers. Opalis can automatically feed selected types of new and updated events from monitors such as NetIQ AppManager or Microsoft MOM.
Automation Policies
1. Implement corrective actions based on diagnoses from InCharge's root cause engine

This policy watches for a SMARTS notification that a user facing application is down, then takes standardized steps to correct the problems, based on the experience of application support staff. Results are immediately reported back to the SMARTS admins.
2. Integrate 3rd party system monitoring tools into the SMARTS InCharge console

This policy feeds information from other system monitors into SMARTS, the manager of managers, and synchronize closing of Event data.
3. Create custom EMC SMARTS Notifications within standardized IT processes

This policy creates success and failure messages from an IT process executing a business data feed, providing EMC SMARTS admins with real time status on critical processes.
