Opalis IP for Symantec NetBackup

Automate Manual Processes Associated with Backups
Opalis Integration Server connects data center components to automate processes in a way that's simple, fast and effective. The Opalis Integration Pack for Net Backup extends these capabilities, enabling you to automate manual processes around backup jobs.

Automate Repetitive and Time-consuming Backup Procedures
Automating routine maintenance procedures allows administrators to stop spending their time on routine, mundane tasks. With Opalis, you can execute backup jobs in an event-driven fashion and coordinate backups with other systems' tasks, such as stopping and starting applications and system services.

Automate Complex System Preparation and Restore Processes
With Opalis, administrators can coordinate complex maintenance activities around backups, such as stopping a legacy application, cleaning up temp files, initiating the job, restarting the application, notifying an operator in the event of failure and creating a report.

Complete Consistent and Dependable Backup Processes in Less Time
To maximize system availability, IT administrators are looking for ways to conduct backup processes quickly and efficiently so applications are not kept offline. Building automated policies ensures backup procedures are completed consistently and reliably, in less time.

Automation Policies

1. Automate responses to common problems

This simple policy uses Net Backup's ability to archive log files automatically when a disk is running low on space.

2. Integrate isolated IT systems

This policy initiates a SQL database backup using a predefined Net Backup policy. Unlike Net Backup alone, if there are any problems a trouble ticket is filed automatically so an administrator can resolve any problems and make sure the backup is successfully completed.
